What do you like to fish for? I live on the Cowlitz River here in SW Washington state and, every once in a while, we'll fish for salmon or sturgeon. We also dip for smelt in Feb/Mar, depending on the run and how many seals come up the river after them.

I was able to graduate from having a good-sized open wound to having it close up almost completely and now all I need to wear is a simple bandaid.
I will apologize, in advance, because a few of these photos are very gory but this is what happened to me on June 15th and I'm still healing up. If you didn't know, my husband and I rescue Australian kelpie dogs. We adopted our newest, Persephone, in January 2020. Suddenly, in the middle of June 2021, her and our middle dog, Rose, decided that they hate each other and tried to kill each other. I had to pry open Persephone's mouth to stop her from strangling Rose.
Dogs' teeth are razor sharp.

This is Persephone.

This is Rose.

This is what happened:

This is what it looks like now, 3 weeks post injury.

And this is my orange dude, Ravioli. I'll add him just because he's stinkin' cute.

I'd love to fish the northeast at some point. I'm planning an Alaska cruise for 2023 and will probably fish 2 or 3 times.

In Texas I am a fish whisperer. I'd be a guide if it paid enough to keep me out of a double wide and a 20 year old truck. I chase primarily bass and crappie. Bass for fun and crappie for food. I have a kayak and that sucker keeps me right on top of the action.

I guess the bass fishing and crappie fishing are good up in Silver Lake near where I live. Are you planning on doing some halibut and/or cod fishing up there in Alaska? Or are you wanting to go up for salmon? Either way, you'll get to see what made me fall in love with that state. If I weren't in western Washington, the only other place I'd be is Alaska.

There was one lake, up near St. Helens, called Fawn Lake, that they had stocked with Eastern Brook Trout. The lake was something else. The volcanic blast had filled in half of it to where it was only a foot or so deep and then, it was a straight drop off and went down 80 feet. It was absolutely clear and you could see all the way to the bottom.
Too many idiots were destroying the wilderness up there, so Weyerhaeuser gated everything off and it's no longer accessible unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars for the privilege of getting a gate key.
So many stunning places to visit up there by the mountain and nobody can get into them anymore.

Eating a lone strawberry from my garden....... >> the joy of growing my own food is slowly taking over my love of convenience food.

If only we could grow an already cooked meal ~ I would be in heaven :haha:

I love growing a garden every year. I know exactly how you feel!

I used these to make the newest recipe that I posted on my blog.

My husband helped out someone, who grows cannabis at home (hubs is an electrician) and they gave him a bonus of some farm fresh eggs (also in that photo).

So, yes, I do know exactly how you feel when you grow your own food. More people need to, if nothing else, grow a strawberry plant in a pot to experience it.
