Thoughts and Prayers for the Palestinians

Postby Dana (129173078) » Fri May 14, 2021 1:05 pm

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the news regarding the events in the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. I feel heartbroken at the amount of horrific events that have occurred. This all took place during the holiest month in Islam - Ramadan. Ramadan is supposed to be a time of fasting, family, community, and spiritual reflection and Eid is the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan and is a time of celebration for Muslims around the world. My heart aches for the families who have lost their homes, loved ones, and who have had to witness and endure such horrifying and traumatic events. Please keep the Palestinian people in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

I'm heartbroken, too. My best friend is Palestinian so I'm always staying up to date on the latest from over there. Thank you for this post, MsP.

Also, I'm wishing everyone a belated Eid Mubarak. I'm definitely saddened that this took place during the holiest of months for Muslims... or that it took place at all. So needless and unnecessary. I'm praying for them.

If you know anywhere I can donate, please let me know! I'll be asking my friend also. :'(

Beliefs divide people.
The civilians, especially the old and the children, are in my thought :rose:

It is easy enough to be friendly to one's friends. But to befriend the one who regards himself as your enemy is the quintessence of true religion. The other is mere business.

I remember so many times I would watch the news when I was a kid and see Palestinians suffer. Breaks my heart that it’s been so many years of this mistreatment and it’s only getting worse... hopefully this recent international awareness does something good.

I'm not trying to be rude here but didn't they strike the first blow at Israel .They are defending themselves and their people. As far as casualties it breaks my heart when any innocent life is taken especially children. I'm not going to pray for just one side but for both so that they can find peace and work together so that no more innocent lives are taken on either side. This is exactly why I don't believe in religion .

Israel made the first move when they came into Sheikh Jarrah and tried forcing the Palestinians out of their homes. One account comes from an old grandmother who said that she and her husband built their home brick by brick together... and now they wanna take it away from them? Not okay. As if they haven't taken enough away from Palestinian people.

I could rant and rave about this all day and I almost started but it's probably against TOS.

Conflict is always heartbreaking. This one has been and will be for all parties involved. The list of reasons for fault transcend anyone's ability to lay blame. They HATE each other. No amount of thoughts and prayers will fix that. Even if they reach an agreement, time and hate will unravel it.

And yeah, this is a topic for Off Topic. :rose:

It's beyond disturbing. Shortly after the Gulf War ended I drove from Cairo to Tel Aviv, the burnt-out tanks and desolation are forever etched in my memory. The Iraqi prisoners of war I cared for were children some no older than 17, fighting for a cause they didn't even understand. Conflict and war are disturbing on so many levels and sadly innocent civilians get caught in the middle. I will never understand why people can't live side by side in peace and just respect each other differences. Maybe it's too much to expect of the Human race. Peace for all

The Israeli/Palestine conflict is not a religious one. It’s an ethnic one. Christian and Muslim Palestinians are both facing ethnic cleansing. The biggest misconception about this conflict is that it’s about religion. That is simply untrue. Palestinians are living under apartheid.

I didn't know Jewish people were Christians I thought they practiced Judaism .Your right it's about land which in my opinion is just as stupid to fight over as religion. God created the world for everyone to live in.

I'm an American my ancestors are from different countries .I think it's terrible what the white man did to the Indians when there was plenty of land for everyone to share.
