Culturally we are taught to be martyrs. Pride steps in front of the need for help and prevents people from asking. Sometimes we ask the wrong people for help, get rejected or hurt, and then think that path is broken. So we all have to fight through pride and the uncaring masses when we need help to find the help we are designed to take from each other. Because the truth is that none of us is equipped to live life without help. We all need someone to lean on at times. And yeah, that means it costs someone to be a helper, but that is why helping people is the most noble thing a person can do. It doesn't matter who we are or what we don't have, we can all help someone.
So the point is that if you need help, then fight through the mental acrobatics and get it. And if you don't need help, then guess what? That's right, you are on the hook for being someone's helper. We can all pitch in somewhere.
