I have a question for MacBook users :D

Postby Van Helsing (181179719) » Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:54 pm

Does the fan kick in almost immediately when playing this game? I recently purchased the 2020 MacBook Air and this problem keeps me from playing as often as I did with my Windows laptop. Any recommendations are welcomed :D

Ok. My fan didn't start.

Make sure you're not running a lot of programs that are making your RAM go nuts. In Mac, you close them using cmd+Q.

If you're not sure what programs are open, you can select them on the dock, those that are open show a dot below the icon:

Or you can click on the apple on top left of the screen and select "Force Quit":

Closing programs should help your MacBook.

Yes! I use a MacBook Air and every time I edit my avatar or decorate a room, the fan turns on. Not only is it annoying, I'm worried it could damage my laptop. o_o

Thank you so much ladies! I just spent about an hour and half on customer service trying to re-set and re-install a bunch of things but I'm reading online that this laptop is basically not fit for these kinds of graphics because the MacBook Air only has one fan :sleepy: (pretty dumb if you ask me). Maybe I'll get more productive irl from this :haha:

Thank you for the tip, Miss Mata! If you don't mind me asking, which model do you have? I only open the YW app and it gives me 15 minutes until the fan kicks in. I'm hearing all sorts of things on the internet right now about the 2020 version :dizzy:

That's what I've heard too. I wish I had looked into it before buying this laptop. I think the next time I save up for a new one, I'll opt for the MacBook Pro. I have a few friends that play using the MacBook Pro and they don't seem to have any issues.

At this point, me too. I'm thinking of selling this one and using that money towards the MacBook Pro or just going back to Windows

Thank you, thank you for asking this question! I have MacBook Air 2019. I just ran a fan diagnostic and everything is okay, but it bothers me that I bought this last year and that the one and only game I play makes this fan blow. It just sucks! Apparently they didn't fix it in 2020 version either. I've thought about going to PRO, but I am not a graphics person so I feel it would be a waste. I really don't want to go back to Windows platform. So I guess I will deal with it. :'( :heartbroken:

I'm sorry you're also going through this :( I've also thought of going back to windows computers but I feel the same as you. If this helps in anything, I've found that the fan goes in overdrive quicker when editing your Avi but it takes a little longer if you're just decorating. Apple is so messed up for not fixing these things and I feel your frustration. :'(
