Do you ever worry so much about something you can't focus on anything else?

No, I haven’t let myself get to that point. But, most of my stressors have either been school or peer related; I haven’t had anything more severe than that. I can’t speak for what I’d do if something bigger comes along that I deem more stressful.

Yes, but only if it's something that I can fix somehow, whether by me or asking for help. If it's out of my control I don't let it take over.

Yes... many times. It’s really stressful and it happens often.

I had a "phase" when I had too much free time on my hands and that period was so dreadful, now that i'm overwhelmed with things to do i don't have the time to obsess over anything, instead, i just alternate quickly between thoughts, problems etc... and what do you know! Most of the issues I used to obsess about sort themselves out without draining my mental power. Being too free as fun as it sounds it's not something good for us humans because it makes us dwell on things that are not good for us.

Most things we worry about never happen anyway.

It's so true and that happens to be a line from a Tom Petty song. :D

A very smart man helped me understand that "worry" is actually "negative faith". In other words, when people worry about things, they are mentally exercising "faith" that the thing might happen. In the book of Job we find a story about a man who lived righteously who was brought to ruin because he exercised negative faith - "That which he feared came upon him". Worry is a doorway for bad things to find a toehold in reality, just as faith is a doorway for good things to find a toehold in reality. I choose to not worry about anything anymore. It doesn't mean I don't consider negative possibilities in my preparations, it just means those possibilities don't get "air time" in my head beyond considering them in that moment.

Yup, it happens quite often, even though I have real work to do. It's a mess because my future depends on them and at this moment I can do nothing but wait.

I usually try to get back to reality as soon as I can. Take a walk, run or just stretch for few minutes, any sort of light physical activity that makes you focus on the movement. I used to think music, watching a movie, drawing or something like that would help but if it's not something dynamic and requires my focus to the point where I can't think about other things or let my thoughts wander, it won't do a thing.

Whatever's bothering you, I hope it goes away soon.
