Hollybored. Live remakes of Disney movies, just aren't that great. At least for me.

You just rained on my parade. :wailing: :haha: I honestly expected it to be a bit of a let down. The Jungle Book was for me as well. Dumbo was pretty good but of course there are more people in it than animals. Too much cgi ruins it in my opinion. Some movies should just stay classics.

I am curious why it was a fail? Too soon? Not unique? I figure you can't talk too much about it without going into spoilers, but I am curious...
:)

It's definitely not unique. The majority of the movie is a 1:1 copy of the original.

My biggest gripes were scenes that were changed for no reason, the voice actors (which is a shame, because I really like a lot of them outside of the movie), and the talking animation looks really weird on some of the animals with how realistic they look (for example, Zazu the bird's entire beak widely opens and closes while he's talking, and it just looks ridiculous to me)

So, it makes me wonder why did Disney do it? Daddy needed a new pair of shoes?
:haha:

I haven't seen that movie for that exact reason, I don't want to be disappointed, I may have to watch it when it comes out of DVD maybe

I don't have any plans to see this remake. I love the original. If you want to really see something amazing, watch the play. WOW!!! They could have made that into a movie.

I think there are always new ways to retell stories. Some are good. Some are not. The Tarzan movie that came out recently with Skarsgard as Tarzan was a fantastic retelling for my money. Heath Ledger's Joker was my absolute favorite Batman movie of all time. And I know some people didn't like the new Aladdin movie, but it made me giggle and I smiled when I left the the theater. It ENTERTAINED me.

I also think people mess up a decent movie with filtered expectations. I don't watch retake movies through the lenses of what I've already seen. Those acrobatics come after the movie ends. I consume the movie for what it is as it happens. And usually I am pleased.

   Seriously that bad? I haven't seen it yet.......my 21 and 20 year old daughters and I went to see Toy Story 4 two weeks ago...and it was out of this world phenomenal!!! They did an outstanding job on it! The 1st one was released in 1995, and they were really little when the 2nd and 3rd were released. I had my qualms...didn't think it would be that good...wrong! So am in total shock that the Lion King was bad. Sorry! I highly recommend Toy Story 4!!!

I enjoyed the movie even though I had heard some less than favourable reviews beforehand. The facial features /emotions were definitely lacking which was a pity :drink:
