I think stories, especially ones that speak to us, mark us all as we consume them. One doesn't watch Sling Blade and suddenly run off to change the world for the mentally challenged, abused children, and bullied gay men.

What does happen is the story allows to gain a perspective on some tough issues that we may have not had. It gives us empathy and hardens our resolve to do and be better.

I can watch almost any movie and find some aspect of it to teach me about life. I learned that a friendship can save the world in Lord Of The Rings. I learned that pushing through your toughest spots can bring you glory from Talladega Nights. And I learned that your enemy is often just a reflection of yourself from Batman and the Joker.

I think this is how great films change us. Sorry if we got off track. I think we all just love film.

Big Blue had a huge impact on me as a cave diver and snorkeler I didn't realize others had such a passion to free dive deeper and deeper until you push every last molecule of oxygen through your brain and keep going until the depths close in and all but a pin prick tunnels you into darkness When there is absolutely nothing left Then that moment of sheer spiritual weightlessness as you consume the knowledge this is it i cant go any further this time and as you turn to make your climb back to reality for a long stretching moment you are between worlds I always imagine Im diving because at the apex of the dive is also the same bright moment of suspension. i dont know why I consider it achieving self... but thats how it feels

Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a brilliant movie and left me thinking about it for days after the first time I watched it.

Schindlers list was another one. I visited Schindlers factory last year while staying in Krakow.

I was 11 or 12 years old and was alone on a Saturday night. My parents were asleep and I was searching the cable box for something to watch. There was a movie called Xanadu that came on and I started watching it. I had never seen Grease. I didn't know who Olivia Newton John was before that night. All I know is that I fell in love with her that night on the couch and she became my first on screen crush. Oh baby.......

Yes it is a brilliant movie I agree, it makes you think of the irony of a human thinking way to highly of ones nationality is the thing that brought their owe to doom. I cried n cried with this movie :'( :'( :'( ..... Sad sad world.

Schindler's list was another AMAZING movie, watched that one a few times.

:star: Starry Starry Night 2011 :star:

It taught me that reality might be an awful chaos, but you can always make it full of magic... and that having to accept the flaws of your life and uncontrolled scenarios is the way to bring peace.

it talked about impulsive adventures, divorce, love for arts, passing of a grandparent, losing a friend, missing puzzle pieces, and unideal ending yet the best ending because it portrays the logical choices of real life circumstances.

I love it so much that I started seeing stars whenever and wherever I want to; the music starts playing and everything slows down. The noise muffles down and the empty room starts having celestial bodies floating around. :star:

:night: i watch it when the dorm gets lonely.. i watch it when i miss my grandma.. i watch it when i remember things. and then i watch it when i am happy. even the soundtracks are all fascinating...
but my favorite one is Two Of Us by Worlds End Girlfriend (they did all of the tracks) i play it on repeat when i sleep
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRbxa9liiUg

the movie itself is a lullaby, a wake up call, the magic of a starry night, and the warm rays of reality. i'll never forget this movie.
