What's your favourite Movie Quote?

Postby Nick Blade (187030201) » Wed Oct 03, 2018 9:51 am

Here's a pre-made list I got from a website.

“Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.” Gone With the Wind, 1939

“I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse.” The Godfather, 1972
Fun fact: This line makes it into each Godfather film in some way or another.

“You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am.” On the Waterfront, 1954

“Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.” The Wizard of Oz, 1939
Fun fact: As one of the most famous movie quotes in film history, this line has been parodied by many different movies and television shows.

“Here's looking at you, kid.” Casablanca, 1942

“Go ahead, make my day.” Sudden Impact, 1983

“All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.” Sunset Blvd., 1950Han Solo saying may the force be with you

“May the Force be with you.” Star Wars, 1977

“Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night.” All About Eve, 1950

“You talking to me?” Taxi Driver, 1976
Fun fact: Robert DeNiro improvised this line. The script only said "Travis speaks to himself in the mirror" so DeNiro took some liberties and was ultimately successful.

“What we've got here is failure to communicate.” Cool Hand Luke, 1967

“I love the smell of napalm in the morning.” Apocalypse Now, 1979

“Love means never having to say you're sorry.” Love Story, 1970
Fun fact: Two years later Ryan O'Neal will hear this line again in the film What's Up Doc when Barbara Streisand says it to his character and respond, "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

“The stuff that dreams are made of.” The Maltese Falcon, 1941

“I'm walking here! I'm walking here!” Midnight Cowboy, 1969

"There's an old joke: two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know, and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life. Full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly."

Brilliant Stuff. You know, a lot of actors when complimented on their roles in something they've done, say it's all down to the writing. This is true to an extent, but it's the actor(s) who bring the words to life in the part they play. Tom Hanks is one of those actors. He could do a movie about reading the phone book and it would be amazing :)

As per recommendation by my Facebook friends I decided to watch The Green Mile. Obviously, it doesn't take much to convince me to watch a Tom Hanks movie I can't believe I missed out on this movie. Anyway here is my favorite quote/s

Paul Edgecomb: Your name is John Coffey
John Coffey: Yes sir boss. Like the drink, only not spelled the same.
Paul Edgecomb: Oh, you can spell can you?
John Coffey: Just my name boss. J-O...

John Coffey: People hurt the ones they love. That's how it is all around the world
John Coffey: People hurt the ones they love. That's how it is all around the world.

“It's strange how pain marks our faces, and makes us look like family.”
― Stephen King, The Green Mile

“I believe that the combination of pencil and memory creates a kind of practical magic, and magic is dangerous.”
― Stephen King, The Green Mile

“A man with a good wife is the luckiest of God's creatures...”
― Stephen King, The Green Mile

“Time takes it all, whether you want it to or not. Time takes it all, time bears it away, and in the end there is only darkness. Sometimes we find others in that darkness, and sometimes we lose them there again.”

Ripley: How long after we're declared overdue can we expect a rescue?
Corporal Hicks: Seventeen days.
Private Hudson: Seventeen *days*? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours! Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here...
Ripley: Hudson!
Private Hudson: ...and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!
Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training.[to Newt]
Ripley: Right?
[Newt apes a salute]

Hudson (with my favorite line ever!):

Paul Edgecomb: Your name is John Coffey
John Coffey: Yes sir boss. Like the drink, only not spelled the same.
Paul Edgecomb: Oh, you can spell can you?
John Coffey: Just my name boss. J-O...

“A man with a good wife is the luckiest of God's creatures...”

“Time takes it all, whether you want it to or not. Time takes it all, time bears it away, and in the end there is only darkness. Sometimes we find others in that darkness, and sometimes we lose them there again.”
― Stephen King, The Green Mile

It's hard to understand why you only just got round to watching this movie. Where have you been hiding ? :haha: I absolutely love it. Not just because of Tom Hanks, although he has a lot to do with it .. but the story wasn't just super, it was very touching

I know, it's embarrassing to call myself a Tom Hanks fan when i haven't seen The Green Mile :haha:
So I have strong opinions about this movie in particular. I love the plot and the acting as always out of this world, the entire cast just AWESOME! One thing that bugged me and it's a big thing, the movie took a bad dive towards fiction and that I didn't like. I was enjoying it the first hour or so then the scene came where he healed Tom Hanks from his razor peeing problem i was like ok, let it slide, then he brought the mouse back to life i was also like eh don't make a big deal out of it, then he sucked cancer out of that woman's body i had enough by then and just lost my interest.

It's a nice movie overall.
