Profound images

Postby Nick Blade (187030201) » Mon Oct 01, 2018 11:27 am

This could be a mind-altering Image, or something that makes you think, or a history defining captured image.

I saw this one a while ago on Twitter and it really is meaningful. I wish more people would stop and realize how bad smoking is, it's the deadliest thing you can do to yourself at will!

Just one little thing: Many images of this kind can have a political twist in them so please refrain from uploading these since they might upset some people.

Yes Rain, it's super difficult, my Mom is a smoker and has been for years I can't get her to quit no matter how hard I try she says she just can't and she is someone with a tremendous amount of will but not when it comes to this.

Try getting her "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. Works wonders for some people.

I've heard about that book too and it's supposed to be good, although the person involved has to "want" to quit.

I quit just over a year ago now and I never thought I would see the day. You see, I learned the hard way and had a heart attack. I can't deny it was probably one of the contributing factors, but not all. Everything that goes wrong with us, people are quick to blame it all on smoking. I asked the Doctor when I was in hospital.. he said, not to smoke, that's all to blame blah blah blah. I said, so it would be ok if I sat and ate greasy food and sugar stuff just as long as I don't smoke - he couldn't answer me. Anyhoo, I digress .. it was the wake up call I needed.

I don't grudge anybody a smoke and will never turn into one of those "ex smokers" who does nothing but complain about others doing it, as they are worse than people who have never done it. There are lots of things out there to help your mum Nick, I just hope one day, she does it. Just like Mr Carr says.. it's all in the mind - and that's true

Same Queenie, I see Tom Hanks on screen and i'm part of the movie, he is insanely remarkable just never seen a more gifted actor on screen before or more than him. I think I'll watch "Catch me if you can" now, he was great in that movie especially by the time Leo was caught in France and moved back to the states, the whole story is built on a real story, i watched Frank Abagnale at a Google open lecture and someone asked him if he thinks he is a smart person having cheated the system and he said no he's not, if he was smart he would have found a better way to make income than cheat the banking system. If you ever have time check it out just Google his name and the lecture video will be on top.

Thanks Nick I will do that. I haven't seen that movie in forever. I have it on DVD somewhere, I might have a look for it. As for Tom Hanks you have it spot on. He is just amazing - so realistic, so talented and so damned wonderful .. just love him .. unbeatable :D

Years ago, Gregory Colbert's Nomadic Museum was in my city. His exhibit "Ashes and snow" is one of the most powerful and peaceful I've ever seen.

There is actually a back story behind it. When he opened the film capsules, something got into his eyes. They literally called it "space dust." My Uncle saw double for almost 25 years after that. Not side by side double.. .but one of top of another double. I was raised by my Aunt and Uncle. I never knew he had that trouble till I was an adult.

Yes this is off my balcony as I had dinner last night. I face west from the very edge of town. I'm looking right at New Mexico.
