File Submission Rules:
Artisan
- Submit a digital file of your original design idea -- files must be in either .ai, or .svg (Try Inkscape - it's free!)
- Please do not use FX such as blur, glow or drop shadow effects as well as blending mode (overlay, multiply, screen etc.) as they don’t tend to work well in the game. RGB color models should be used in the source files, not CMYK as it can create issues with the color appearance. All items and their variants should be shown (no hidden or locked layers, please). No bitmap images in the source files (including textures) and please don’t overload your artworks with lots of small details, which make your file size huge and hard for exporting, most of the details don’t pronounce in the game size anyway. Adhering to all of these will increase your chances of being selected as a finalist.
- Variants of entries are not required. However, if you wish for there to be variants created, you must submit your colour variants in front and back view along with the original.
- Please do not include any backgrounds in the files you submit, as these can greatly inflate the file size and make it difficult to work with. You are welcome to keep stylized backgrounds in the images that you post in the thread that will be used for voting though.
- You MUST send your design files to [email protected] and post a screenshot in the entry thread in order to be considered. You must email us the files you have created BEFORE THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE.
- Entries of previous submissions that didn't win are allowed, but you MUST submit them to our email again using the rules described below.
- All items must be contained in ONE image and be your own original work. Items that are not shown in the breakdown image won't be exported.
- You are free to submit individual items from your full outfit to any of the other categories if you wish, but if you do so, you must break them out and submit them as individual files.
- Please note that we are unable to recreate trademarked or branded items
- This contest allows for multiple entries -- you are not limited to only one file/entry
- Please give your filename the name of your entry when you save it. If we get a file named "Viking Andrew Cool Candy Cane.ai" it is much easier for us to ensure it gets the proper name when it is put into the game.
- You must include XM2020 and the Traditional or Fantastical category in your email title. We ask that you also include your outfit name in the title or body of your email as well. Example: "XM2020 Traditional Viking Andrew's Sweet Sweet Santa Suit". If you would like to include the individual item names, you may do so as well.
- Please try to avoid changing the main shape of the Yo (waist slimming, adding a neck, etc). Don’t change the position of Yo’s legs as it breaks walk animation in the game.
Innovator
- If you don't have the programs or the know-how to participate at the Artisan level, you can be an innovator! Innovators must hand-draw their entries (either on paper or digital). You must post your drawing and the name of it in the submission thread and specify what category you are entering it for
